Secondo il mito omerico e orfico della creazione tutte le creature viventi nacquero da Teti, che regnava sul mare e da Oceano che scorreva intorno al mondo. Teti significa "colei che dispone" ed è un antico appellativo della Dea Luna. Come tutte le coppie di Titani Teti e Oceano presiedevano un pianeta, Venere. Teti aveva cinquanta Nereidi come assistenti, sirene gentili figlie della ninfa Doride e del marinaio Peleo profeta col potere della metamorfosi.


According to the omeric myth of the creation, all the living beans were born from Teti who reigned over the Sea and Ocean, that flowed all around the world. Teti means "She who disposes" and it is as well the name of the ancient Moon Goddes. Each Titan couple presided over a planet, Teti and Ocean presided Venus. Teti had fifty Nereids as assistants, they were kind sirens born from the ninph Dorid and the fisher Nereo.
